So as a young girl, my sister and I would plan thanksgiving. We are first generation Americans and my parents didn’t know the customs and the traditions of thanksgiving. My sister and I learned it in school and brought it home. One thanksgiving my parents asked if we could help with cooking and basting the turkey and we said yes. The night before we stayed up till midnight preparing the turkey and the food, it was the most fun we had with our family. We all laughed and joked and shared stories. The next day the turkey was delicious, I think mostly because we helped make it and we were proud. My parents make it a tradition every year now to all be there the night before and prepare that turkey. It was the first and greatest family tradition we have.
