NEW Walgreens Balance Rewards Program Changes!
Calling all Walgreens shoppers! On Sunday 4/24, Walgreens introduced some changes into their Balance Rewards Program. The change every Walgreens shopper will be interested in is this - you can now earn and redeem Balance Rewards Points in the same transaction, sweet! :)
Note that this is true for unit offers only (buy two select products get back 1,000 Balance Rewards Points); BUT you cannot earn and redeem points in the same transaction for threshold offers (spend $20 get back 10,000 Balance Rewards Points). We checked if this is true at a Walgreens store and it's working! Here's the receipt for our Hallmark Cards deal:
So, here's a summary of what has changed:
You will earn and redeem Balance Rewards Points in the same transaction for unit offers.
You will earn and redeem Balance Rewards Points in the same transaction when paying with store credit.
You will not earn and redeem Balance Rewards Points in the same transaction for threshold offers.
You will not earn EveryDay Points when you pay using Balance Rewards Points or store credit. For example, if you buy $10 in products and pay for half using your Balance Rewards Points, you will earn EveryDay Points on the other half of the total only.
This is great news for couponers, as we'll be able to use our Balance Rewards Points more freely and more creatively! :) What do you think about these changes?
Go here to read the Terms & Conditions of the Balance Rewards Program.

NEW: Target Coupon Policy Update (OK to Stack Target Coupons)
Target made a NEW change to their Coupon Policy. And this time, it's good news! :) We've always been confused with using Target coupons on individual items (ie. $1 off Huggies Target Coupon) that also apply to a Target category coupon (ie. $10 Off $50 Baby Target Coupon). Since they are both Target coupon, people always ask if this is allowed. According to their new coupon policy Update, this is allowed! Yay!
Here's what it says on their coupon policy:
What should I keep in mind if I want to redeem a category/department or storewide coupon?
If you're redeeming more than one category/department or storewide coupon, you must meet purchase requirements for each coupon individually. The percent-off coupons will apply to all qualifying items in transaction. No other same category/department or storewide coupon will apply.
Target item-level coupons can be used while using a category/storewide coupon (e.g. $1 off Target coupon for body wash AND a $5 off $15 Target Personal Care purchase). The threshold for the category coupon is based on the retail of the qualified items prior to Manufacturer item-level and Target item-level coupons.
Example:
OK to Use $1.00 Off Huggies Target coupon and $10 off $50 Baby Category Target Coupon together.

VIDEO: How to Organize Coupons
*NOTE: Click on the video above to start watching. Or if you don't see the video, click here to watch it on youtube.
*If you liked the video, click here to Subscribe to future videos.
Hello! I just uploaded a video on How to Organize Coupons - one of the most common questions I get asked. While there are several popular Coupon Organization Methods out there, my favorite organization method is the Whole Insert Filing Method. :) I like how little time it takes up front to get organized. It literally takes me 5 minutes a week to pull inserts and get them organized.
Additionally, I also introduce my "Pencil Case Method" in the second half of the video - how I personally store loose coupons before I go on a coupon trip.
There are no wrong answers for what method you choose. The trade off has to do with how much time you spend upfront, vs, how easy it will be to access the coupons when you need them. I used keep whole insert sheets in a binder, but that became too complex (when I got inserts from multiple papers and all the pages differs) and time consuming.
I will be doing more videos on the other two methods in the future. For now, here's my answer to "How do you organize your coupons?" hehe... Enjoy!

*Recall* on Keurig Mini Plus Brewing Systems
Keurig Green Mountain, Inc. is recalling Mini Plus Brewing System units with model number K10 (formerly identified as B31) produced prior to July 2014! It seems that hot liquid could escape from certain Mini Plus Brewing System units during use and is more likely to occur if the brewer is used to brew more than two cups in quick succession. This issue does not affect any other brewer models.
Click here, or call 1-844-255-7886 (Monday-Friday from 8am-8pm ET, and Saturday and Sunday from 8am-3pm ET), or email keurig@inmar.com to determine if your brewer is among those units potentially affected based on its serial number displayed on the bottom of the unit. If it is you will be able to obtain a free repair kit which resolves the potential issue.

*Recall* on Graco Strollers
Calling all shoppers who have recently purchased Graco Strollers!
Graco has issued a press release, and effective 11/20, there is a nationwide voluntary product recall on select Graco Strollers and Travel Systems distributed by the company from August 1st, 2000 to September 25th, 2014. The reason being the folding hinge on the sides of the stroller have caused multiple finger injuries and pose an amputation hazard.
From the Press Release: "Graco will offer free hinge covers to caregivers who have purchased any of the affected strollers. Caregivers can verify if their stroller is included in this recall and order the repair kit by entering the model number on GracoBaby.com or by calling 1-800-345-4109 (Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST). The model number can be found on the white label located at the bottom of the stroller leg just above the rear wheel. While waiting for a repair kit, caregivers should exercise extreme care when unfolding the stroller to be certain that the hinges are firmly locked before placing a child in the stroller. "

This was my favorite video to make (so far), because this topic is at the heart of what Free Stuff Finder was about when it was first started in 2006 -- way before we ventured into couponing and online deals. I hope you enjoy the video.
Show Notes:
Here are the resource links of tools I mentioned in the video:
Google Voice - If you already have a gmail account, you can sign in with your gmail account to get setup. Or if you are new to gmail or google accounts, you can sign up here. With google voice, you can get a Free phone number in your local area code. The phone number can accept calls, receive voice mails and text messages. Never fill out an online form with your real number.
RoboForm - You can read more about and download RoboForm here. It was designed to be a password manager, with plugins for your web browser. But it has auto fill feature to fill in commonly used web fields.
LastPass - LastPass is an alternative to RoboForm. Another very cool password manager with browser plugins, and can help to fill out forms faster.
The video was based on the 5 Tips for Free Stuff Finding article from last year. :)

How to Save at Starbucks – Never Pay Full Price (New Video)
*Click on the Video Above to Start Watching the Video. Or click here to watch it. If you liked the video, click here to Subscribe to more videos.
NOTES: Quick Links from Video: Raise Starbucks Gift Cards Here and Starbucks Reward Program Here
I love Starbucks. But I don't love the premium pricing on their highly addicting and yummy treats. As a habitual deal chaser and frugal couponer, I'm always looking for ways to avoid paying full price for items, and Starbucks is no exception. Even if the savings is small, every little bit helps.
Here is my strategy for never paying full price at Starbucks. Yes, I have a strategy. And when my husband violates any part of this strategy... well let's just say, it ain't pretty. :) (j/k)
Step #1
Sign up for the Starbucks Reward Program, either online or from your phone. Next, download the Starbucks app to your phone and then link your Starbucks Reward Program to your phone's app.
Step #2
Go to Raise.com, which is a marketplace for buying and selling discounted gift cards, and buy a discounted Starbucks gift card. This is really very easy to do and the gift cards can either be physically mailed to you or sent electronically to your email. The discounts range from 5% to 20%, depending entirely on what's available and how competitive the Raise.com marketplace is at that moment. The best price I've gotten for a Starbucks gift card was a 19% discount.
I always choose the electronic gift card and in just a few minutes, once I have received the gift card's code in my email, I can then enter that code into my Starbucks' Reward Program via my phone's app (or from a computer) and I'm off and running.
Step #3
Always use your phone's Starbucks app to pay while shopping at Starbucks. When you do this, you are using the money from your discounted gift card you bought from Raise.com (savings tip number 1) and you are also racking up reward points on your Starbucks Reward Program (savings tip number 2).
One additional tip I have, and this is the step that gets my husband in deep doo-doo because he's too embarrassed to actually do this: If you are buying multiple items at Starbucks, buy them in separate transactions. So if you are buying two coffees and a food item, let the cashier know that you will be paying for them in 3 separate transactions. We do this, because a reward point (or "Star") is given for every transaction. This way, you can rack up points quicker than if you (like my husband) pay for multiple items in one transaction.
How the Starbucks Reward Program Work
By paying with your Starbucks app you are tracking your transactions in your Starbucks Reward Program. Once you hit 5 stars within a 12 month period, you'll be in the Green level status. Once you have racked up 30 stars within a 12 month period, you will have achieved Gold Status.
With Green level, you'll get a Freebie (any drink or food item) on your birthday. And Free in-store refills on coffee or tea.
With Gold level, you'll get the benefits of Green level, plus you get a FREE ITEM every time you hit your 12th star. The free item is good on any drink or food item in the store. You can get the largest drink with multiple shots. But from my experience, you'll get the most value by getting their pre-packaged gourmet salads. They are the most expensive food or drink item carried at the store at $6.99. My favorite is the Chicken Quinoa Salad. Awesome lunch. FREE makes it the more delicious! :)
Using Raise.com to Sell Unused Gift Cards
Have you ever gotten a gift card to a store that you just don't like shopping at? Or maybe the amount you were given isn't enough to buy anything useful at that store without spending more money? Then consider selling the gift card for cash!
Raise.com is not only a great place to buy discounted gift cards but also a great place to sell your unused gift cards to other shoppers for cash. You can sell physical gift cards and cards with merchandise credit that have a minimum of $20. And you can sell eGift cards that have a minimum of $10 on them.
How To Sell Gift Cards
Let's say you have a $20 gift card for Nordstrom and you don't want to use it because you would most likely have to add more cash to the transaction.
Head over to raise.com Sell Gift Card page
Enter in the basics (card retailer, serial number, etc.) This info is kept private at all times.
For each gift card sold, raise.com takes a 15% commission of the sale price. They provide you with prepaid shipping labels.
Choose how much to sell the card for. Depending on brand cards sell faster with at least a 5% discount.
Choose how to be paid, check out PayPal.

Calling all shoppers who have recently purchased baby wipes!
Nutek Disposables, Inc. has issued a press release, and effective 10/25, there is a nationwide voluntary product recall on select baby wipes distributed by the company Nutek Disposables. The reason for this is the belief that some packages may contain bacteria.

Extreme Couponing – How to Start a Stockpile (New Video!)
*Click on the Video Above to Start Watching the Video :)
Note #1: Here is a similar shelf made by the same company on Amazon with Free Shipping.
Note #2: Here are the exact shelves I got from Home Depot. No longer carried on amazon.
Hello! I just uploaded a video that gives a sneak peek into my ever growing Stockpile on YouTube. :) By the way, if you haven't already, make sure to Click the Subscribe Button on YouTube to be notified when I upload new videos. And if you have any questions for me that you would like to see me address in a future video or blog post, go here to ask your questions.
Today, we're going to talk about Stockpiling. I cover in detail the concept of stockpiling in the Couponing 101 - How to Coupon Stack lesson. Go there to learn more. But the basic gist of stockpiling is waiting for items to go onsale, stacking available coupons, getting items at the lowest possible price and buying enough of them to last until the next sale.
As you can see in the video, I went a little crazy with my stockpile, and it borders on the side of Extreme Couponing - which isn't required, or even needed or even recommended. :) Seriously, I had a lot of fun building the stockpile, but I'm not sure I would do it again to this extreme. I have 12 shelving units full like the ones shown in this video (you see 4 in the video) and it's becoming a problem now that we are getting ready to move.
Where to Get Shelves?
The number one question I get asked related to stockpiling is, where I get my shelves from? The quick answer is: Amazon or Home Depot. If you find the exact same shelves on amazon that also sells at home depot, some home depot will allow you to price match amazon.com prices and give you an additional 10% over the difference.
I recommend investing in these metal shelves instead of the plastic ones. They are more sturdy, have adjustable shelves, and look nicer. Plus, the shelves themselves don't bow as badly when you put heavy items on them.
You can also get metal shelves at Costco. Some of my friends got theirs from Costco and are happy with them.
Pros to Stockpiling
1. The obvious pro to having a stockpile is that you never have to pay full price for non-perishable items on which you can stock up. Things like laundry detergent, toilet paper, paper towel, diapers, canned food, etc. It's so nice when you run out of paper towel to be able to walk into your "personal store". No more stress of needing to get to the store to pick up more.
2. Nice to look at - c'mon, I'm not gonna lie. I like looking at my stockpile. Call me crazy. But I love my cleaning supply stockpile. I actually found organizing my stockpile to be an enjoyable pass time. Some people sew, some people bake. Me? I organize my stockpile. :)
3. Giving Back - While its nice to save money and to have a beautiful stockpile, couponing and stockpiling also allows you the opportunity to easily give back. You can donate stockpile items to others in need, make a generous basket for a neighbor, or allow your friends and family to shop in your "store" for Free.
Cons to Stockpiling
1. Space - Depending on how extreme you get, stockpiling can take up a lot of space. I seriously started with one shelving unit in the garage, and somehow grew into 4, then 8, then 12. lol. I'm really embarrassed to admit, but now I have a storage unit for the extras. However, I am actively working on reducing the amount I coupon for and donating the extras I have in storage.
2. "You Can't Use Anything" - This is a joke among extreme couponers. Because stockpiling can bring out the OCD animal in you, if you use one item from your shelves, you'll be annoyed by the missing space where that item used to live. So often times, couponers will go out to get 10 things just so they can replace the one item. My Tip is: Don't get too obsessive with replacing what you use. Move the items forward, so the missing space is at the back of the shelf.
3. People may call you a "hoarder" or a "doomsday prepper". :) lol. As my friends make jokes about my stockpile, they continue to enjoy the benefits of my couponing by getting Free Stuff. To each their own!

I didn't mention it here yet, since I was kind of embarrassed. LOL. Seriously. Making videos is hard and watching yourself on these videos is even harder. :) You never quite get used to it. Hopefully, with more practice, I'll get better at it.
Anyway, the first set of videos is a Free Online Coupon Class for beginner couponers. Go here to get started in learning How to Coupon. :) In the future, you can access this training series from the site menu. Just click "Beginner's Guide" from the menu bar above to find it. If you have a friend who is new to couponing and would like to learn, please pass this link on to them.
